About

Sabrina Basilio is a performance maker, researcher, and educator with a keen interest in ecology, gender, and decolonial studies.

As a playwright and dramaturg, she has worked with companies like Tanghalang Pilipino, Philippine Educational Theater Association, Company of Actors in Streamlined Theatre, and Atlantic Pacific Theatre, as well as Manila-based universities, fringe collectives, and choreographers. Her plays have received national distinctions—such as the 2025 Gawad Buhay Award for Outstanding Adaptation of a Play—and been featured in festivals like the Virgin Labfest, Women Playwrights International, and the Hektomeron Project of Romania.

Sabrina's community arts engagements have led her to collaborate with agricultural workers, survivors of gender-based violence, the incarcerated, and climate leaders from Canada, India, and the Philippines.
While she mostly identifies as an amateur mycophile and dog mom, Sabrina is known also the resident dramaturg and moderator at Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of Ateneo de Manila University. In 2020, she co-founded Jungle Gym Play Laboratory, a transdisciplinary artist collective seeking to fill the planet with laro, lingap, and laya (play, regenerative action, and meaningful participation).

Sabrina devotes most of her time to reading things aloud, weaving hard data into soft love stories, and endlessly partaking in workshops from all sides. Otherwise, you will find her hiking and singing to her house plants.
